Governors work closely with headteachers, school staff and representatives from the local authority (LA).
Mrs Susan Scott – Chair of Governors
I was given the opportunity to become a Parent Governor in June 2013. I have one son Alex who started Annfield Plain Infant School in September 2012. As a Parent I am keen to do what I can to contribute positively to our children’s education. I work for Gateshead School Catering Service as Operations Manager and have over 20 years experience of providing children with nutritious balanced meals. I am delighted to be working with a great team at a great school, spending time in school and being able to see and report back to the other Governors the excellent progress being made.
Mrs Helen Dryden – Vice Chair, Co-opted Governor
I have been a Parent Governor since 2013. I have two children, Hannah and Daniel who have attended both Annfield Plain Infant and Junior Schooll. My role as a Governor allows me to give something back to the school for all they have done and continue to do for my children. In my working life I am Operations Manager for a company who provides Day Care and have been there for 20 years.
Mrs Edna Shields – Co-opted Governor
I am a retired teacher with a career spanning 40 years in a number of schools across Durham. My roles included Class Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher and acting Head Teacher. My teaching career concluded at Annfield Plain Infant School. Following my retirement I have been a governor for Annfield Plain Infant School for many years.
Mr Michael G Tallentire – Co-opted Governor
Mrs Hannah Elliott – Staff Governor
I am currently working as a Teaching Assistant at Annfield Plain Infant School. I am mainly based in the reception class within an early years setting, though I also plan and deliver circle time sessions to all year groups throughout school. Circle time is a subject I am passionate about as it aims to raise self confidence a positive behaviour in pupils. I am really enjoying my time as a School Governor. It has given me the opportunity to learn more about how the school is managed and all of the elements that are involved in a running a successful school.
Mrs Lindsay Chapman – Parent Governor
I am a Parent Governor who joined in the spring term 2014. I have three daughters who have attended this school and I enjoy being involved in school life, which is enhanced by my role as Parent Governor.
Mrs Donna Northey – Parent Governor
I have lived in Annfield Plain all my life and I myself attended Annfield Plain Infant & Junior school. My daughter came to this school and is now at Annfield Plain Junior School. I have been a parent governor since February 2015.
Mrs Helen Lolachi – Parent Governor
I have been a parent governor since February 2016 and I am really enjoying the role. I have two children who have and do attend this school. I believe that schools are the heart of the community and regularly volunteer at the school. I also run playgroups around Annfield Plain.
Miss Lesley Bainbridge – Parent Governor
I am a parent governor with a daughter who attends Annfield Plain Infant School. I attended the school myself and truly believe in the work the staff do. I work in education myself and am looking forward to being part of an amazing school.
Mrs Ann Kane – Headteacher
I have been Head Teacher at Annfield Plain Infant School since September 2008. I am part of a very dedicated team who work hard to promote a safe and caring environment for our children to ‘blossom’ in.
The governors are part of this team and meet regularly to support and challenge our work here so that we can continue to grow and improve.
I have worked in several schools across the County, in Early Years, KS1 and KS2 and have served the whole of my professional career working for Durham Local Authority.
